Almost lost my son last night


We have a small portion of roof over our first story that is just below the second floor windows to the upstairs bedrooms. Our older two have taken to sitting out on it in the evening talking and just hanging out, like teens are want to do. I wasn't aware of this until last night, when my SO came downstairs in obvious distress. She was in our bedroom pulling the shades down for the evening, leaving the window open since it was nice outside.

All of a sudden, she heard, in a whispering tone just outside the window, "Hello little girl". Needless to say, she literally jumped out of her skin. The teens had crawled over to our bedroom window and scared the shiRt out of my wife. She came downstairs and threatened to thrown "my son" off the roof for scaring her.

I immediately head upstairs and give my two teens a berating similar to Deadpool discussing the cab driver having his love rival in the trunk.

(loudly) I'M SHOCKED YOU WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!

(whispering) i'm so proud of you!

(loudly) DON'T EVER DO THAT TO YOUR MOTHER AGAIN!!!

(whispering) you will go far in life!

I couldn't have been prouder of my teens than I was at that moment! Needless to say they are in Dutch with the SO for the moment but we shall get good mileage out of this for years to come.
